A Ranger and Deputy Ranger posted at Forest Range Office Gotegaon, Narsinghpur district, were caught red-handed while receiving bribe of Rs. 50,000 at their office on Thursday. The accused were identified as Dinesh Malviya aged 43, son of Poonam Chand Malviya, posted as Ranger at Forest Range Office, Gotegaon and Kamlesh Kumar Chouhan, son of late Ram Gopal Singh Chouhan, posted Deputy Ranger at Forest Range office, Gotegaon who were caught red-handed while accepting bribe on the complaint of Yogendra Singh Patel aged 43, son of Dabbulal Patel, who was a timber merchant and resident of Gaya Dutt Ward, Station Ganj Narsinghpur.
According to the complainant, he was a timber merchant. After receiving written permission from the Forest Department to chop wood, he went to the field of a farmer at village Sagda, Gotegaon to cut Satkata trees on May 18, 2024 at around 7.00 pm. The woods was being cut and loaded into the truck with the help of a Hydra vehicle. After loading the woods, the TP was to be taken. At the same time, Ranger, Malviya and Deputy Ranger Chouhan came to the spot with their staff and seized the Hydra and truck loaded with woods and took the vehicles to Shyam Nagar Forest Chowki, Gotegaon. When the complainant requested them to release the vehicles and wood, they demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 to cover up the case and impose less penalty.
 
Left with no other option, Patel filed him complaint at Lokayukt office Jabalpur. After verifying the complaint, Lokayukt conducted a raid at Forest Range Office, Gotegaon on Thursday and caught both the Ranger and Deputy Ranger while accepting the bribe of Rs. 50,000. Taking both the accused under their custody, further action was taken against them under Prevention of Corruption Act. The Lokayukt team was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dileep Jharwade, comprised of Inspector, Kamal Singh Uike, Inspector, Naresh Behra, Inspector, Bhupendra Kumar Deewan and 08 other members.
