Fire broke out at a two-storey bakery in Sindhi Colony under Kabadkhana area on Saturday morning, Fire Department officials said. Luckily, there were no casualty reported as staff was not present in the shop early morning hours. To douse the fire 25 fire tenders and water tankers were pressed into service. It took around five and half hours to douse the fire completely and front portion of the building were demolished. As the shop was situated in narrow street with dense population, locals of the area were scared. Even fire tender teams faced problem to reach the spot as the street was very narrow. The bakery owner claimed expected loss of Rs 90 lakh and the building is also dilapidated. The fire spread from the nearby electricity pole. Fire tenders were called from New Kabadkhanana, Fathegarh, Pul Bogda and Bairagarh and then 20 other fire tenders were called from various locations. Fire tender operator Naushad Khand informed that fire spread around 5:30 in the morning and they douse it till 8:30 but after few minutes, fire was blazing repeatedly. Finally, complete control over the fire was done around 10:30 am.
The bakery show owner Majahar Ali said, “I have no insurance for the shop while business was set up on loan. Fire has brought me on road as I have to bear loss of 90 lakh. There were two big ovens, number of trays, raw material, etc are completely spoiled in the fire.” He further said that an electricity pole is adjacent to the building. He said that after sparking on the electricity pole, fire caught into the oven that was filled with oil. Notably, every other day there is a fire incident in the city in which people face financial losses and also creating a kind of panic among the locals.In past 25 days of May, there were eight fire incidents in the city. On May 6, fire engulf the Union Carbide factory, May 7 Ayodhya Nagar, May 8 Co-operative Office Old Secretariat, May 9 Gautam Nagar, May 10 Zone-2 MP Nagar and on May 15, fire engulfed shops in Shahjahanabad.
To deal with the rising fire incidents in state capital Bhopal, Department of Urban Development and Housing has recommended implementation of Fire and Emergency Services Bill in Madhya Pradesh on line of several states very soon. Sources said that the process of enacting Fire Service Act was initiated by the Union Government in 2017. After deliberations, final draft and suggestions were sent to states in year 2019. On September 16, 2019, the Union Government circulated model bill to provide for the maintenance of a fire and emergency service for the state Governments to enact or amend existing Fire Service Act. “In the investigation, the police has found that the cause for this fire was some was electric malfunction or a short circuit. More details can be mentioned after further investigation.” TI Hanumanganj Arvind Bhadoriya told ‘The Hitavada’.
