While citizens are already experiencing an gruelling summer, the second day of Nautapa, the nine days considered as hottest in the year, brought hottest days of this season with maximum temperature rising bove 45 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, entire State was in the grip of blazing sun and day temperature was recorded highest 46.2 degrees Celsius in Sagar and night temperature above 30 degrees Celsius in 15 cities. Meteorology Department stated that in past 11 years, this is the fifth time highest temperature in Madhya Pradesh. Earlier, in year 2015, temperature touched 45 degrees Celsius, in year 2016 46.7 degrees Celsius, 2017 45.1 degrees Celsius, 2018 45.3 degrees Celsius and in year 2022, 45.1 degrees Celsius. On first day Nautapa (May 25), maximum temperature in Bhopal was 42.9 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature recorded was 29.4 degrees. Earlier in the year 2016, day temperature had touched 46.7 degrees Celsius in last week of May.
Health Department has also released advisory for people to avoid stepping out of home unnecessary and keep yourself hydrated. IMD has released severe heat wave warning for 21 districts in State. There seems to be no relief for the residents of Bhopal as temperature soared above normal mark. Heat stroke has hit the normal life and city roads remained deserted throughout day. If we talk about other parts of state, scorching sun with heat wave is n making people literally ill. Mostly people preferred to stay in doors from morning 9 am to 6 pm to stay safe from the sun burn. Heat wave is bothering people in over 21 districts. Highest day temperature was recorded as 46.2 degrees Celsius in Sagar and Guna following with 46 degrees Celsius in Khajuraho. Day temperature remained above 45 degrees Celsius in Damoh, Khajuraho, Nowgong, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Bhopal, Gwalior, Khandwa, Khargone, and Shivpuri. Minimum temperature remained above 30 degrees Celsius in Ratlam, Ujjain, Damoh, Khajuraho, Sagar, Satna, Sidhi and Tikamgarh. Dr Ved Prakash, Senior Scientists of IMD, Bhopal, said, there is no respite for people during the month of May as weather would be drier every day and sun is going to grill with its blaze.
He said that in coming days, day temperature is expected to soar around 46 or 47 degrees Celsius. He said that another cyclonic appearance is active in state and a western disturbance is active with trough line. Among the major cities of state Bhopal recorded maximum temperature 45.5 degrees Celsius and minimum 29.4 degrees Celsius. Gwalior recorded maximum temperature 45.6 degrees Celsius and minimum 29.5 degrees Celsius. Indore recorded maximum temperature 43.3 degrees Celsius and minimum 29.8 degrees Celsius. Ujjain recorded maximum temperature 43.7 degrees Celsius and minimum 31.2 degrees Celsius.
