A massive blast had rocked the facility of Special Blasts Ltd, an industrial explosive making facility at Bemetara, Chattisgarh on May 25, 2024 at 07:45 AM. One person is reportedly killed and 7 injured. Considering the huge quantities of explosives stored in the premises and the lurking danger, services of Indian Army were officially requisitioned by the State Government to tackle the situation. Promptly reacting to the requisition Headquarter Madhya Bharat Area dispatched a team of experts from Central Ordnance Depot (COD) Jabalpur a premier organisation dealing with explosives in the Army. The team travelled overnight and reached the site early in the morning at Bemetara Chattishgarh.
After carrying out a detailed assessment of the situation the team put measures in place to ensure the safety and security of men and material, thus paving way towards unhindered relief efforts. COD Jabalpur and other stake holders have been established at headquarters of MB Area to monitor the situation and guide the team at site.
The district administration has thanked the Army for the prompt response. This has been the second instance within one month when troops MB Area has been requisitioned by the civil administration and the team from COD Jabalpur has responded promptly thus defusing a dangerous situation. GOC MB area complemented the team from COD Jabalpur headed by Major Jaideep and once again assured that the army will always respond to any such situation to mitigate risk to the civil population.
