PLAYERS Basketball Gymkhana (PBG) boys and Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM) girls made winning starts in the inter-club Sub-Junior (U-13) Invitational Basketball Championship that got underway at Morghade Sports Complex, Gadikhana Ground on Monday. A total of 19 boys and 16 girls teams are participating in the inter-club 10-day championship. In opening match of the tournament, riding on a fine combination of Vedant (17) and Varad Lute (10), one of the hosts PBG defeated UBA 33-14.
 
DKM girls were ruthless blanking PBG 26-0. Pankhudi Bade scored 12 points for the winners. At the outset, the tournament was inaugurated by former MLC Girish Vyas. The function was presided over by MLC Pravin Datke. On the occasion, Deepak Mehta, Director of Bhangadiya Group; Shrikant Aglawale, Vikas Kumbhare, Ravindra Kulkarni and others were present. PBG Secretary Hemant Balbudhe conducted the proceedings while Hambirrao Mohite proposed a vote of thanks.

Boys: PBG (Vedant 17, Varad Lute 10) bt UBA (Kushagra 7) 33-14 (8-7, 10-0, 8-6, 7-1). Girls: DKM (Pankhudi Bade 12) bt PBG 26-0 (10-0, 2-0, 10-0, 4-0).
