The Gujarat Government on Monday ordered the suspension of seven officials in connection with the Rajkot game zone fire that claimed 27 lives. The officials have been held responsible for their “gross negligence in allowing the game zone to operate without necessary approvals,” a Government release stated. Earlier in the day, Rajkot Municipal Corporation’s (RMC) Town Planning Department Assistant Engineer Jaideep Chaudhary, Assistant Town Planner for RMC Gautam Joshi, Rajkot Roads and Buildings Department’s Deputy Executive engineers M R Suma and Paras Kothiya, and police inspectors V R Patel and N I Rathod, were suspended, as per orders passed by the respective departments. The Rajkot Municipal Corporation later ordered the suspension of Rohit Vigora, the ‘station officer’ of the RMC’s Kalavad Road fire station.
 
ONE OF THE PARTNERS IN GAME ZONE ARRESTED: The police on Monday arrested one of the partners of the ill-fated game zone in Rajkot, an official said. The police have registered an FIR against six partners of the TRP game zone on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and had earlier arrested two persons in connection with the incident. Court remanded three accused in police custody for 14 days. Meanwhile, the identities of nine bodies recovered from the fire-ravaged TRP Game Zone in Rajkot have been established through DNA analysis, said Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi on Monday. Eight samples are currently under analysis. TRP Game Zone never applied for fire NOC, says Fire officer: The management of the TRP Game Zone had never applied for the mandatory fire NOC (No Objection Certificate), Rajkot city chief fire officer IV Kher said on Monday, countering the claim made by city Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava.
