Divisional Commissioner, Abhay Verma has issued show cause notice to Dr. Shraddha Dwivedi posted at Katni District Hospital on Tuesday. The lady doctor was giving paid treatment to the pregnant patient admitted at the District Hospital, at her private residence recovering hefty treatment fee. She also did sonography of the pregnant lady at her private sonography centre on Rs. 900 and financially and mentally harassed the patient and her family by misguiding them. Considering this act in the category of misconduct and misconduct contrary to Madhya Pradesh Civil Service Rules, proposing disciplinary action against Dr. Shraddha Dwivedi, a gynecologist posted in the district hospital, issuing a show cause notice and presenting her side within 7 days. Instructions have been given to appear in front and present the reply.
 
Collector Avi Prasad, during the inspection of the District Hospital on May 17, received a complaint that a pregnant woman, resident of village Paturia of Tehsil Bahoriband, was admitted to the District Hospital by an ASHA worker and got her slip cut. Since the doctor was not available in the district hospital from 2 pm to 3 pm, the patient was taken from the District Hospital to the personal residence of Dr. Shraddha Dwivedi for further diagnosis. Where sonography was done from a private sonography centre. During this period, due to high risk pregnancy of the woman and non-delivery after completion of pregnancy, the patient was again admitted to the District Hospital in the evening by the health department team.
 
Soon after receiving complaint, Collector, Avi Prasad took serious stand and constituted a three-member inquiry committee and gave instructions to submit the investigation report. It was reported by the investigation committee that the ASHA workers brought the pregnant woman to the District Hospital in the afternoon, while going to the ward, the ASHA workers were informed that the duty doctor, Dr. Shraddha Dwivedi left for lunch at 1 o’clock and were asked to get the patient tested immediately. Soon both the ASHA workers took the pregnant woman and her family in an auto to Dr. Dwivedi’s residence at Ganesh Chowk. After examining the patient, Dr. Dwivedi advised her to undergo sonography on personal prescription. During investigation, the pregnant woman informed that her husband had given testing fee of Rs 300 to Dr Shraddha Dwivedi and Rs 900 to Sonography Centre.
