A SEMI-DECOMPOSED body of a final year student of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) was recovered from his hostel room on campus Thursday morning. VNIT authorities said that Divyanshu Gautam (22), a final year B Tech student in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) took the extreme step by hanging in his room. As foul odour was emanating from Divyanshu’s room, other hostellers alerted the warden and college administration. After the VNIT authorities informed the police, cops arrived at the spot. Bajaj Nagar Police forced open the door as it was latched from inside and found the semidecomposed body of Divyanshu who was a native of district Purnia in Bihar.
The institute’s authorities informed his parents about the incident. Cops found a suicide note in which it was stated that he was ending his life and nobody should be blamed for it. After conducting the spot ‘panchnama,’ police sent the body to the Government Medical College & Hospital for postmortem. When contacted, Bajaj Nagar Police, who registered a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, said that investigation was on to ascertain the exact reason behind Divyanshu’s suicide.
