A POLLING officer died in the road mishap that occurred at the highway in Kumhari, Durg on Wednesday wee hours. After depositing EVM at Strong Room, she was returning home in her moped when she met with the unfortunate mishap midway. Police sources informed that the deceased polling officer was identified as Madhu Banjare (49), wife of Suresh Kumar Banjare, a resident of Kota, Raipur. As per information after depositing EVM at the strong room in Junwani, Durg, during Wednesday wee hours, Madhu Banjare was on way home in her moped when she hit against the gantry board’s pole and died on spot in the mishap that occurred near the flyover in Kumhari, Durg. She was serving as a Lecturer at Government Higher Secondary School in Girhola, Nandini.
 
After information a Kumhari police team reached the spot immediately and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital but the doctors pronounced her brought dead on arrival. Madhu Banjare was deployed as Polling Officer at Polling Booth No 205 at Supela in Bhilai. The police have recorded the unnatural death and are further investigating. SHO, Kumhari Police Station, J R Kurrey informed that the police have recorded the mishap and are further investigating to ascertain finally the facts. Harvansh Singh Miri, Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) and Joint Collector told the newspaper that it is the on-duty death in the road mishap and the report bases on police investigation and findings will be forwarded to the election commission. The settlement in the case will be in accordance provisions, he added.
