V-P Dhankhar praises Modi Govt for mission to eradicate Sickle Cell

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar appreciated the Narendra Modi-led Government for its aggressive approach to eradicate Sickle Cell disease from the country. He said that PM Narendra Modi had already launched National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission from neighbouring district of Shahdol in 2023. V-P Dhankhar remembered the contribution of tribals and said that they are the backbone of democracy in India. Jagdeep Dhankhar was addressing the gathering while attending function organised on World Sickle Cell Day at Government Chandravijay College in Dindori on Wednesday. He urged everyone to make efforts to eradicate sickle cell disease. VP Dhankhar said that PM Narendra Modi had already launched National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission from neighbouring district of Shahdol in 2023. Efforts are being taken and everyone should take part in it. When India would celebrate its centenary of independence in 2047 till then India will be a developed nation and free from Sickle Cell. To achieve this aim, Central and State Governments have to work in coordination not only financially but technically also.
 
VP Dhankhar said that India has left behind countries like Brazil, Germany, Japan in terms of development. Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder marked by defective haemoglobin. It inhibits the ability of haemoglobin in red blood cells to carry oxygen. Infections, pain, and fatigue are symptoms of Sickle Cell disease. Beauty of democracy of India is that Droupadi Murmu, became first lady from tribal community to take oath as President of India and administered oath to PM Narendra Modi. He was impressed with the variety of medicinal plants, herbs found in Dindori and expressed desire to develop a Herbal Garden at the Vice President House by planting these varieties. VP Dhankhar lauded efforts of Governor, Chief Minister and officers of Dindori and Madhya Pradesh state for public welfare oriented action including Sickle Cell Eradication drive.
 
Governor Mangubhai Patel urged the gathering to give emphasis on genetic card and not horoscope while fixing marriage. He urged boys and girls to avoid marriage with sickle cell carrier partner. He called upon tribal leaders and youths to spread awareness among tribal on Sickle Cell disease. He said that among tribal population of 1,90,00,000, test of only 55,00,000 people have been done. He advised for passing proposal in all panchayats of 89 block of State where PESA Act has been implemented, for checking genetic card before fixing marriages. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said that tribals, their culture and Narmada river is an integral part of Madhya Pradesh. Dindori comes under Gondwana kingdom here brave queen Rani Durgawati defeated army of King Akbar three times. He said that the State Government is working for eradication of Sickle Cell disease. This programme is being organised in 89 tribal blocks. Health team is reaching to each house for survey, test, counselling and awareness in the demarcated communities.
 
Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla also addressed the gathering. Dignitaries who attended the function included Minister Prahlad Patel, MP Faggan Singh Kuleste, MLA Omkar Markam, MLA Omprakash Dhurvey, Commissioner Abhay Verma, IG Sanjay Kumar, DIG Mukesh Shrivastava, DIG Savita Sohane, District Panchayat President Rudresh Paraste, Collector Vikash Mishra, SP Vahini Singh, and other officers. Glimpses of the programme. At the onset, CM Dr Yadav welcomed Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar by presenting him Gondi style painting with GI tag, ‘Viranmala’, ‘Baigani’ headgear. Panchayat Minister Prahlad Patel and Member of Parliament Faggan Singh Kulaste also welcomed the Vice-President. Vice President, Governor, Deputy CM, Panchayat Minister planted saplings of mango, neem, ashok at the playground of the college. The Vice-President observed the exhibition displayed by Ayush Department of Dindori at the venue and inquired in detail about herbs, edicinal plants.
