Collector Deepak Saxena while chairing an important meeting with the representatives of private schools at Collectorate on Wednesday evening, made it clear that if action against the arbitrariness and dictatorship of private schools has been initiated from Jabalpur, then efforts to rectify flaws in the system should also be made from Jabalpur itself. According to Collector Saxena, it will send a good message among public and the bad perception created among parents, children and society about private schools will be washed away. Collector Saxena said that the school directors will have to introspect on the environment created against private schools and will have to make efforts to rectify the same. If private school managements take such a decision and implement it, then a good message will be sent about Jabalpur in the entire State and even in the country.

The Collector clarified that the administration has no prejudice or ill-intentions against private schools. The district administration was given ample chance to correct the mistakes discovered during the investigation carried out on the parents’ complaints. The Collector made it clear that if the school management is ready to correct the mistakes with good intentions, then the administration will cooperate with them. The Collector also asked private school directors to follow the Act made regarding private school fees. He also assured to organise training for the school managements to overcome the difficulties being faced in uploading details about fee structure on the portal. Talking about the issue of fake ISBN numbers on textbooks, Collector Saxena said that it is not mandatory for private schools to implement ISBN number books in the curriculum.

Schools can also include books without ISBN numbers in the curriculum. But including books with fake or duplicate ISBN numbers in the curriculum will be considered a crime. He said that before including any book in the curriculum, the school administrators need to minutely observe its contents and features. Simultaneously, its price and availability should also be kept in mind. Details about the books to be sold in the next academic session should be posted on the notice board by September. The Collector asked the school directors to overcome the mentality of making good money by recovering arbitrary fees from parents. If children get good education in their institution then their reputation will automatically increase.
