SHAUNAK Badole reigned supreme at the 96th Nagpur District Weekend Open Rapid Chess Tournament organised by Nagpur District Chess Association at NDCA Hall, Sports Complex, Dhanwate National College, Congress Nagar on Sunday. Badole and Mayur Gupta both ended with seven points each after the final round, but Badole emerged winner via tie-break rule. Badole, playing with black pieces, defeated Sumedh Ramteke on the top board in the final round to win the title. On second board, Mayur Gupta, also playing with black, got the better of Aditya Ukey. Vishwaditya Awasthi was successful in registering victory against Chetan Deodhagle on the third board. On board number four, Krupal Wanjari, playing with white, defeated Sai Sharma. Ayush Ramteke was successful in recording win over Swaraj Mishra on the fifth board to enter top ten.
 
Awasthi Vishwaditya also made it to top ten with 6.5 points. Six players — Aditya Ukey, Krupal Wanjari, Ayush Ramteke Aarav Gawande, Mayank Hedau and Sumedh Ramteke ended with six points each. In all, 70 players including 37 ELO rated players of various ages participated in this tournament. Total seven rounds were played. A total cash prizes of Rs 5,000 were distributed among top 10 players of the tournament. Prizes were distributed at the hands of IA Pravin Pantawane, Chief Arbiter.
