In death, Ramchandra Jampalwar gives new lease of life to three

Four years ago Ramchandra Jampalwar, 56-year-old man of Chandrapur district, met with an accident. Fortunately, he survived the accident. Recently, he again met with an accident as a four-wheeler hit him as he was travelling on a two-wheeler. This time luck did not favour him and he was declared brain-dead. But in death, he gave new lease of life to three persons. Ramchandra Jampalwar, a 56-year old was running a salon. He had a small family of wife Vimal (46), truck driver son Rajkumar (27) and Mahadev (25) also in salon profession. After an accident, Ramchandra was brought to the Government Hospital at Rajrua. His health got deteriorated so he was admitted to Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital (AVBRH), Wardha. After a treatment for a day, a team of doctors including Dr Chandrashekhar Mahakalkar, Dr Tushar Patil, Dr Amol Andhale and Dr Shrinivas K conducted complete investigation and declared him brain dead.
 
The coordinator at AVBRH explained to the family and counseled them for organ donation. The family gave consent to donate the organs--kidneys, liver. The hospital informed Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre about the consent of organ donation. The ZTCC President Dr Sanjay Kolte, Secretary Dr Rahul Saxena and Coordinator Dinesh Mandpe swung into action. The committee allotted the organs as per waiting list. The liver was given to a 60-year old man at Max Care Hospital. First kidney was allotted to a 31-year old man at AVBRH, Wardha and second to 31-year old man at Wockhardt Hospital.
 
Two green corridors were created under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Traffic) Shashikant Satav for transportation of liver and one kidney from AVBRH Wardha to Max Care Hospital, Nagpur and Wockhardt Hospital, Nagpur. AVBRH, Wardha staff created the honour corridor and paid tributes to the donor. It has provided free ambulance service up to their native place Warud Road, taluka Rajura, district Chandrapur.
