Paying tributes to the utmost courage, bravery and valor of Veerangana Rani Durgavati, the warrior queen of Gondwana regime, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav announced that the under construction flyover from Madan Mahal and the Jabalpur Airport will be named after her. The Chief Minister was addressing a huge gathering of tribal people and locals during a programme organised to mark the 461st ‘Balidan Diwas’ of Rani Durgawati at Veterinary College ground, on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, CM Dr Yadav stated that Rani Durgavati not only defeated Emperor Akbar's army three times but also provided an innovative and people-centric governance system in the areas of good governance and water management. He said apart from naming the fly-over and the airport in Jabalpur after the warrior queen, the state government will also make efforts to obtain permission from the central government to name a stadium after Rani Durgavati in Garha.
 
He said the Government is also focusing on restoration of lakes and other water structures in the region, which is a real tribute to the queen’s bravery and valour. Chief Minister Dr Yadav stated that the era of Akbar was challenging. While Maharana Pratap was struggling against him on one side, Veerangana Rani Durgavati also fought against Akbar's army in the forest region. He said in order to display the life, valor and innovative initiatives taken by Veerangana Rani Durgavati, seminars will be organized alongside incorporating her courageous deeds in the curriculum. He said an award of Rs 5 lakh has been announced to bring forth various aspects of Rani Durgavati. Monthly cultural and intellectual events will be organised in the State, including in Jabalpur.
 
Dr Yadav said that the first cabinet meeting of the present BJP State government was held in Jabalpur with the aim of honoring and expressing gratitude to Rani Durgavati on her 500th birth anniversary. He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made to familiarise the general public with the valour of personalities like Veerangana Rani Durgavati, who sacrificed their lives for the honor and protection of Indian culture, civilisation and traditions. Dr Yadav further stated that Rani Durgavati and Rani Avantibai Lodhi have historically been expressions of women’s power. He said whether in war or governance, women are not behind anywhere. In this regard, President Draupadi Murmu has highlighted the talent of Indian women to not only the country but also world by showcasing indigenous skills.
 
The CM said apart from women, State Government is also dedicated to welfare of weaker sections of the society. Those present were MP Rajya Sabha Sumitra Valmiki, State PWD Minister, Rakesh Singh, State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Prahlad Singh Patel, MLA Ajay Vishnoi, Ashok Rohani, Abhilash Pandey, District Panchayat President Asha Gotia, Principal Secretary, Tribal Works Department, E Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Abhay Verma, IG Anil Kushwaha, Collector Deepak Saxena, SP Aditya Pratap Singh and others.
