Heads continue to roll on in the infamous nursing colleges scam in the State as the Madhya Pradesh Nursing Council’s former registrar Chandrakala Digvaiya has been terminated on Monday after she was found guilty in an inquiry that was conducted for granting recognition to ineligible nursing colleges. This is the second big step in nursing scam as recently former registrar Sunita Shiju was suspended. National Students Union of India (NSUI) alleged that ineligible nursing colleges were granted recognition during working tenure of former registrar Chandrakala Digvaiya in year 2019. Ravi Parmar, medical wing in-charge NSUI said, “we were demonstrating against the scam continuously but former medical education minister and officials were supporting the culprits.” He further informed that working tenure of Chandrakala Digvaiya was from September 2020 to September 2021 and on May 6, 2021, she released the affiliation list of 667 nursing colleges.

He said that in this list, 219 nursing colleges were new. Ravi Parmar alleged that there were various scams during the working tenure of Chandrakala Digvaiya. NSUI also demanded action on former medical education minister, former medical education commissioner and Madhya Pradesh Ayurvigyan Vishwavidyalaya vice Chancellor Ashok Khandelwal, Registrar Pushpraj Baghel. NSUI also demanded action against Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of Health and Medical Education Department Mohammed Suleman and former Medical Education Commissioner Nishant Warwade. Criticising the Government, Ravi Parmar said that it is good step that former registrar of Nursing Council Sunita Shiju and Chandrakala Digvaiya have been suspended but why they are not taking action against the main accused. He alleged that ACS Suleman is involved in scams since the pandemic .

He said Nishant Warwade is also involved in this scam and these people are running the council. According to National Students Union of India (NSUI), Government has said to take action against the six officials who prepared false report after inspecting the nursing colleges. Health and Medical Education Commissioner Tarun Pithore informed that in session 2021-22, ten nursing colleges were granted approval for the session in a false way but later, their affiliation was cancelled in short of following parameters. He said that out of these ten nursing colleges, poor report was presented for eight colleges by the inspectors but then registrar issued their affiliation against the rules in year 2018. Taking cognisance in this case, former registrar has been terminated.
