PADDLERS Jennifer Varghese and Jayesh Kulkarni emerged champions in their respective categories of the Shivaji Nagar Open Ranking Table Tennis Tournament which concluded at the RTMNU Hall in Ravi Nagar on Saturday. In the women’s final, Varghese walked away with the title after registering an easy victory over Dnyaneshwari Patharkar with scores reading 11-2, 11-1, 11-6. In the men’s clash Kulkarni got better of Kaustubh Udar taking it 4-1. Kulkarni, showing his fine form, won the first two game 12-10, 11-9, but Udar made a comeback in third game winning it 8-11. In the fourth game Kulkarni was too strong for Udar as he recorded an easy win taking the game 11-2 to clinch the crown.

 

During the prize distribution ceremony Nagpur District Table Tennis Association felicitated Jennifer Varghese, Swanand Lakhe, Mayank Kedar and Rushi Damaye for there excellent performance in class X and XII. Secretary of Maharashtra State Table Tennis Association Adv Ashutosh Potnis, NDTTA Secretary Adv Akhilesh Potnis, Chief Referee Deepak Kanetkar, Ajay Kamble, Vijay Naik, P Pathak, Vasant Daxinkar, CD Upring, Jaisingh Rawat, LB Rana and Mangesh Mopkar were present on the occasion.
