Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency witnessed an unexpected outcome. Though people termed the fight between Raju Parve of Shiv Sena (Shinde) and Shyamkumar Barve (Congress) as tough, sentiments of maximum voters were inclined towards Parve. But Barve surprised everyone that too by a victory margin of 76,716 votes. Both Congress and Sena (S) candidates scored better in Kamptee and then Hingna Assembly segment. In Kamptee, Congress secured 1,36,342 votes while the score of Sena (S) was 1,18,938 votes. For Congress, a good increased in vote count came from Hingna but Parve also managed to get good number of votes. While Congress polled 1,13,868 votes in Hingna, Sena (S) added 95,606 to its vote count.
Saoner was one Assembly segment where Barve got a solid lead over his opponent Parve, which was expected. Saoner constituency was once ruled by Sunil Kedar. In 2024 polls, Kedar played a key role in Barve’s victory. Congress’ score in Saoner was 96,158 while it was 79,549 votes for Sena (S), a lead of 16,609 for Congress. If one takes a look at the comparative score of the parties’ vote count in previous polls (2019) and this year (2024), it would be clear that Congress dominated in all the Assembly segments while Sena (S) managed to gain some votes in Hingna and Kamptee segments. Congress got a lead of 4,668 votes in Ramtek which is lowest. The lead in Hingna is highest--18,262. Kamptee’s lead of 17,404 is second highest for Congress and in Saoner it got a lead of 16,609 which is third highest. Congress gained in Hingna by whopping 43,190 votes followed by difference of votes of 36,911 votes it secured in Kamptee.
Ramtek constituency polls was in news for various reasons. Congress had announced the name of Rashmi Barve, ex-President of Nagpur Zilla Parishad. But her candidature was cancelled because of issue of validity of her caste certificate. Congress then fielded her husband Shyamkumar Barve, a lesser known candidate in Ramtek where everybody speculated the victory of Parve, Congress MLA of Umred joined Shinde Sena. But the spirit among voters was different and Barve won the polls.
Ramtek has 50-50 hold of MVA and Mahayuti
The six Assembly segments in Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency have the 50-50 hold of Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aaghadi (MVA). Ramtek has Adv Ashish Jaiswal, supported by Shiv Sena (S), Hingna has Bharatiya Janata Party’s Sameer Meghe while at Kamptee it is BJP’s Tekchand Savarkar. Anil Deshmukh of Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) is MLA of Katol while Sunil Kedar is MLA of Saoner. Raju Parve though joined Shiv Sena (Shinde) had won Umred Assembly on Congress’ ticket.
