Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari visited Naik Talao to inspect the rejuvenation work. The lake is located at Lalaganj, Bangladesh, locality and had almost vanished due to encroachment and draining of inlet. During the visit, Dr Chaudhari was briefed by officials about the status of the ongoing work. He directed the officials to expedite the work and ensure that they are completed before onset of monsoon. The rejuvenation work of Naik Talao is sanctioned under Amrut 2.0 Scheme of Central Government.
While starting the work, the first portion that was given preference was construction of parapet wall around the lake.
Now, the work to remove silt is on, said Sandip Lokhande, Executive Engineer, Public Health Department. With monsoon likely to start soon, Dr Chaudhari directed the officials to press additional machinery so that desilting is completed early. Once rains start the ferrying of excavated soil might led to inconvenience to people in the surrounding localities.

The duo said there is problem of draining of rain water during the monsoon and for the same funds be allocated for construction of storm water drains. Dr Chaudhari inspected the nullah near Naik Talao and reviewed its status. Chief Engineer, PWD, NMC, Rajiv Gaikwad, Assistant Commissioner Ghanshyam Pandhre, Executive Engineer Ajay Gedam, and others also were present.
