As the deliberations for the distribution of Union Cabinet portfolios are reportedly underway in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at New Delhi, State is ready to claim its major share in Cabinet berths. BJP top brass from the State, including Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and BJP State President V D Sharma and some other MPs, have proceeded for the national capital. After a clean sweep of (29/29) seats for the BJP in the State, several names are doing rounds for the key portfolios. Former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and Faggan Singh Kulaste and State BJP chief VD Sharma are among the front-runners.

Political observers say that there may be three-four berths in PM’s new team. Since the annointment of Dr Mohan Yadav as Chief Minister, there were talks that longest serving CM of the State Shivraj Singh Chouhan may be sent to the Center. With a victory margin of around 8 lakh votes from Vidisha, Shivraj’s key role in the Government or at the organisation can’t be denied. Given his good bonding with both PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Jyotiradiya Scindia, who had joined BJP with around 22 MLAs in 2020, consolidated his position in the party and his victory has endorsed his nomination in the new team of Council of Ministers.

Besides, Scindia won his Guna seat by a margin of around 5 lakh votes. Another name in this list from the state is State President V D Sharma, who retained his Khajuraho seat by a margin of more than 5 lakh votes. During his tenure in the State, party has registered thumping victory in Assembly as well as Lok Sabha elections. In view of tribal background, name of Faggan Singh Kulaste from Mandla is among the contenders for the Cabinet berth.
