FATALITIES on the thoroughfares in the Second Capital continue unabated with four young men losing their lives and three others suffering serious injuries in three unrelated road accidents, including two hit-n-run cases reported in the past twenty four hours. In the first hit-n-run incident, a rashly-driven tipper (MH-40/CT-4566) crushed a motorcyclist to death in the Kapil Nagar area Monday afternoon. Identified as Bhavesh Ravindra Bharne (27), the deceased was a resident of Flat No 606, Vidarbha Complex, near Sangam Talkies. Bhavesh was going on a Hero Honda motorcycle (MH40/CV-6967) around 12.15 pm. Near the petrol pump at Kamgar Nagar Square, the recklessly-driven tipper hit Bhavesh killing him on the spot. The tipper driver, Radheshyam Hiralal Rahangdale (53), a resident of Kandri, Kanhan, sped away fearing public violence.
 
On the basis of the information given by Kartik Bharne (24), younger brother of the deceased, Kapil Nagar Police registered a case under Sections 106(1), 281 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), read with Sections 134, 177 of the Motor Vehicle (MV ) Act, against the tipper driver. In the second such incident, a speeding motor vehicle knocked a pedestrian dead when he was crossing the road after parking his two-wheeler on Tarodi Khurd flyover on Jabalpur-Hyderabad highway in Wathoda area Monday evening. The deceased, Prakash Ashok Mahant (29), was a resident of Tulsi Nagar, near Hanuman Mandir, Bhandewadi. Around 5 pm, Prakash parked his Honda Activa (MH49/CE-5120) on the flyover and was crossing the road. Suddenly, a speeding motor vehicle hit Prakash killing him instantaneously. Fearing arrest, the driver of the ‘killer’ vehicle fled the spot.

In anotheraccident that took place nearPanjara in Koradi area, two students were killedand three otherssustained serious injuries after a speeding Maruti Swift car (MH-40/AR7040) they were travelling in somersaulted thrice after hitting the roadside railing in the small hours of Tuesday. Identified as Aditya Pramod Punyapawar (19) and Vikram alias Ayush Madhukar Gade (19), the deceased were the residents of Koradi. Injured Jai Bhongade (18), Sujal Manwatkar (19) and Sujal Chauhan (19), also the residents of Koradi, are battling for their lives at Neuron Hospital.
 
The victims were students and were returning to Koradi after enjoying a party. Jai Bhongade, who was driving the car at a high speed, lost control of the vehicle and collided with the railing near the service road. The impact of the collision was so intense that the car somersaulted thrice and finally turned turtle killing Aditya and Vikram alias Ayush on the spot and injuring Jai Bhongade, Sujal Manwatkar and Sujal Chauhan. Koradi Police investigating the incident told ‘The Hitavada’ that Vikram Gade was a law student while while Aditya was a second year student of Sone College of Pharmacy, Mahadula. A native of Chamorshi, district Gadchiroli, Aditya was staying in a rented room. Injured Jai Bhongade and Sujal Chauhan are the second year BTech students while Sujay Manwatkar is second year MBBS student.
