Directorate of Technical Education extends date of receipt of application to July 18
The diploma engineering courses are witnessing good days as there are more takers than the total intake in Maharashtra. The concept of ‘School Connect’ has made all the difference. Considering the rising flow of applications, Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) has extended the date of receipt of applications to July 18, 2024.
The idea of ‘School Connect’ introduced by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) five years ago led to rise in admissions to Diploma Engineering courses in Maharashtra. But the concept was further strengthened by the present Director Dr Vinod Mohitkar that led to tremendous response from the students.
After the announcement of the admission process, a lot of students not only bought application forms but large number of them also submitted the forms.
There are around 1.10 lakh seats of Diploma Engineering courses in Maharashtra for which till now, 1.30 lakh students have applied. Considering the huge response from the students, DTE has decided to extend the date. DTE had started application receipt process from May 29, 2024. Now students can submit applications till July 18.
Issue of seat vacancy is being faced by technical institutions in Maharashtra running Diploma Engineering. After taking charge of Director of Technical Education, Dr Vinod Mohitkar has been taking efforts to get more admissions.
“The faculties of polytechnics approached nearby schools, with Class X and approached them, interacted with Head Masters, then with faculty and then with students of Class X. Everything was explained to them including the functioning of polytechnics, better opportunities in higher education and job prospects. Our teams received several querries including the job opportunities and our teams counseled them. This led to rise in response from the students and parents.”
Over last five years, DTE has increased the facility centres for students to 339. DTE had trained Chief Coordinator, Scrutiny Officer and Nodal officer for e-scrutiny, e-FC and guiding students for filling the applications through mobile. “With full support from Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil and Principal Secretary Vikaschandra Rastogi, we applied several schemes,” stated Dr Mohitkar.
