Public Works Department Minister, Rakesh Singh inaugurated the Prime Minister College of Excellence, Government Mahakoshal College as a chief guest during a programme organised, on Sunday. MLA Ashok Rohani presided over the function.
It may be noted that Union Home Minister, Amit Shah along with Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav inaugurated as many 55 Prime Minister Colleges of Excellence across the state during a ceremony held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Arts and Commerce College in Indore.
The event was broadcast live to all colleges in the state.
PWD Minister Singh expressed happiness on elevation of Mahakoshal College as a Prime Minister College of Excellence, calling it a special day. He shared his memories of studying at the same college. Reflecting on his experiences, he mentioned that the Government Science College and Mahakoshal Arts College were once part of Robertson College. He said an institution where one studies always remains in memory and respect and reverence for it never diminish.
Singh expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav for declaring Mahakoshal College as a Prime Minister College of Excellence and extended his best wishes to the college staff and students.
He also highlighted the importance of practical knowledge and the Indian tradition of education,
mentioning that India has always been a beacon of knowledge to the world.
He cited the historical significance of universities like Nalanda and Takshashila, where tens of thousands of students from across the globe once studied. Despite past events that created a different perception, he emphasized that India has always been a source of knowledge. Singh said the National Education Policy is a necessity of the current times, aiming for the holistic development of students and supporting employment, self-employment and self-reliance.
Later, MLA Rohani, in his address stated that this college would become a milestone for modern and quality education.
Thereafter, chief guest and other guests were presented with mementos. Principal Dr. A C Tiwari welcomed all the guests with flower bouquets and highlighted the college's glorious history and future plans in his welcome speech.
Janbhagidari President Ashish Rao extended best wishes and congratulated the college's elevation to a Prime Minister College of Excellence.
Collector Deepak Saxena, Additional Director of Higher Education Dr Santosh Jatav and others were present as guests.
