This novel and maiden campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is rightly called ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’. Now, it has become a movement coming over merely a slogan ‘EK Ped Maa Ke Naam’. By planting a tree, everyone can pay tribute to their mother and the Motherland: Amit Shah

“PM College of Excellence is not just an attempt to change the title of our higher education institutions, in fact it is a system that responds to developmental needs of students to make them successful in their life and competent at global level. This is a step towards making education in the country representative of the Indian ethos and suitable for India’s upcoming needs,” said Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in Indore, on Sunday. Many dignitaries, including Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar were present on the occasion. Amit Shah virtually inaugurated Prime Minister Colleges of Excellence in 55 districts in Madhya Pradesh. The main programme was held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Arts and Commerce College in Indore, which has been developed as PM’s College of Excellence. He further added, “All 55 colleges are ready to provide education as per the provision of New Education Policy.

There will be no compartment of education. Students of one stream will also have access to pursue diploma in another stream. It will not confine our students to a single subject. If he/she wishes to go to another stream there will be scope for it. For instance, if a student from Humanities wants to gain knowledge of Science, then he/she will be able to opt for a diploma in a subject based on Science. In these colleges , there will be no boundaries of subject. These colleges will not only provide education in various streams like Biotechnology or Bachelor of Arts, it will also inculcate knowledge based on Indian philosophy, Indian values. These colleges will provide all necessary tools to lead a successful life. Several innovatives have been taken in these colleges as far as courses are concerned. There will be non-traditional courses like BSc in agriculture that are also going to be started. The New Education Policy is a blend of ancient and modern knowledge which will play a vital role in building future generations that are capable of competing at global level. On the other hand, it carries Indian values.

“I have asked the Higher Education Minister to ensure ground preparations mainly on teaching should have been completed in these 55 colleges before formal inauguration of PM College of Excellence,” Shah added. Hailing Madhya Pradesh, Union Minister Amit Shah said that when I came to launch the New Education Policy in Bhopal, it was Madhya Pradesh only, in the country that had brought the National Education Policy from papers to the ground. Then, Dr Mohan Yadav was the Higher Education Minister. MP is the only State which has started medical and engineering education in mother tongue. If Mumbai is the commercial capital of the country, Indore is the only commercial capital of the State. The cleanest city is known as Indore cotton hub, cleanliness hub and will soon become an Education Hub. Pharma, textile and food processing fields are also making new strides. Talking about students, Amit Shah said today’s generation is the generation of AI and internet.

This is why several vertices have been included in this new policy. In 2047, India will emerge as world leader in every field. He asked the students to go through New Education Policy. PM Modi’s vision is to make every student successful in life too. Quantity aside, the main focus is on quality. Vocation and skill training is there to fulfill the gap between curriculum and job requirement. Instead of a degree, youth will have 360 degree vision as NEP approach is holistic development.
