In order to vent ire against the NEET and Nursing College scams, hundreds of Congress leaders and workers took to streets and staged massive protest, on Monday. During the demonstration the Congressmen had light scuffle with the police. The police had to use water cannon to restrain the Congress leaders. During the demonstration, the police arrested around 50 Congress workers. To express ire and concerned against the scams, the Congress leaders and workers started march from Town Hall to the Collectorate, but the police stopped them at Ghantaghar Chowk. Witnessing the aggressive protest by Congress, the police used water cannons, after which the Congress workers climbed barricades and began their demonstration. After an hour-long protest, the police arrested the Congress activists.

The Congressmen criticised the BJP Government for the NEET scam. Senior party leaders stated that whenever injustice has been done to students, the BJP Government has sought the support of the police and suppressed the opposition’s voice. However, the Congress party will never let its voice be silenced and will always stand for the welfare of students. The Congress leaders alleged that the BJP Government is responsible for the NEET scam, where continuous irregularities are being committed in recruitment exams. Crores of rupees are being accumulated by corrupt individuals leaking question papers, all under the Government’s patronage.

City President, Saurabh Sharma expressed surprise that not only financial scandals but also educational scandals are now occurring under the BJP government. The VYAPAM scam had already taken place in Madhya Pradesh, resulting in numerous student suicides. Now, a scam has unfolded in the NEET examination. He said on one hand, unemployment is at its peak, with educated youth struggling for jobs on the other admission exams themselves are marred by corruption. After prolonged protest, Congress leaders submitted a memorandum, designated to the Collector to senior officials.
