First day of Monsoon Session witnessed confrontation between Congress MLAs and the Government on alleged Nursing Colleges Scam. Following the pandemonium, the House proceedings were adjourned till Tuesday morning. This is the third session of the 16th Legislative Assembly. Earlier, the Budget Session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly began on Monday. Congress members dressed in apron printed with text of ‘Nursing Scam’ tried to enter the House. They were stopped at the gate. The Congress Legislature Party said that injustice has been done to the youth in the Nursing Colleges Scam. Therefore, it should be discussed in the House. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar demanded discussion on this issue during the session. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has replied that since the matter is in court, it cannot be discussed. After this, there was in uproar in the House, seeing which the Assembly Speaker first adjourned the proceedings till one o’clock and later till Tuesday.
 
On the first day the issue of land acquisition for Indore-Budhni Railway line, high tension line over residential area in Morena and appointment at Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur, were also raised in the House. Kamlesh Shah and Shivraj Singh Chouhan have tendered their resignations. As two have now taken oath as Members of Parliament. Shivraj Singh Chouhan who contested election from Budhni Assembly constituency was being fielded in Lok Sabha elections by the party while Bunty Sahu defeated Nakul Nath, son of Kamal Nath from Chhindwara constituency. Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar made a special mention in the Assembly after the Question Hour on the decision of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav to pay his own and the ministers’ income tax through the Cabinet. The members welcomed this decision by thumping the tables.
 
Assembly Speaker Tomar said that Chief Minister Dr Yadav has decided to pay his own income tax and the ministers have also decided to deposit their own income tax. They themselves will now deposit their income tax. On this, Leader of Opposition Umang Singar said that he too will pay his income tax himself. The Assembly members present in the House welcomed it by thumping the tables. Apart from budget, State Government is likely to table bill of Public Health Engineering Department. This bill aims to curb deaths due to kids falling into open borewells by proposing stern action against the guilty. The Government will present the Budget on July 3, officials said, adding that the session will feature 14 sittings, starting from Monday and concluding on July 19.
