SEOIACB files charge-sheet in liquor scam case

State Economic Offences Investigation and Anti Corruption Bureau (SEOIACB) on Monday filed the charge-sheet in the court in connection with the Rs 2,200 crore liquor scam occurring during previous Congress regime. The charge-sheet contained around 15,000 pages along with some electronic devices seized by the SEOIACB and it was submitted in the Special Court (Prevention of Corruption Act) at Raipur. Notably, few days ago on June 20, the Directorate of Enforcement had also filed charge-sheet in the court in the liquor scam case which too contained over 10,000 pages. The SEOIACB in its charge-sheet has accused the persons arrested in connection to the scam including bureaucrats, politicians and middlemen of conspiring together and forming a syndicate which caused loss to the tune of hundreds of crores to the State exchequer.
 
The accused charge-sheeted by the SEOIACB included Anwar Dhebar, former Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited, Arun Pati Tripathi, Arvind Singh, Trilok Singh Dhillon and others. Two of the accused including Arvind Singh and Dhillon were also brought to the court from the jail during the submission of the charge-sheet. Meanwhile the court after evaluating the challan will frame charges against the accused persons involved in the liquor scam. Among the accused arrested so far, two including Anwar Dhebar and Arun Pati Tripahti are on presently on the remand of Uttar Pradesh Police. The UP Police is reportedly quizzing them in connection to the fake holograms used in the liquor bottles.
 
JUDICIAL REMAND OF COAL LEVY SCAM ACCUSED EXTENDED: The accused arrested in the coal levy scam case were on Monday produced before the Special Court in Raipur after their remand period ended. The Special Court has extended the judicial remand of all the accused till July 12. All the accused except suspended officers Saumya Chaurasiya and Ranu Sahu were produced in the court. The accused included Nikhil Chandrakar, Suryakant Tiwari, Sunil Nayak, Shiv Shankar Nag, Roshan Singh, Moinuddin Qureshi, Hemant Jaiswal and Chandraprakash Jaiswal. SPP PANDEY SEEKS POLICE SECURITY:Special Public Prosecutor Dr Saurabh Kumar Pandey representing SEOIACB and Directorate of Enforcement in the courts has sought police security. He is representing the State in coal levy scam case, liquor scam case as well as Mahadev online betting app case. He is apprehensive of any untoward incident which may occur with him during his journey to Bilaspur for court purposes. He has submitted an application seeking police security to the Director General of Police as well as Inspector General of Police (Intelligence).
