Ira’s Yashasvi, Shravani, Vedant in Mah team

IRA International School’s trio of Yashasvi Kubde, Shravani Tulankar and Vedant Dhoke have made it to the Maharashtra sub-junior hockey teams that will participate in the 2nd Hockey India Sub-Junior West Zone Championships (Men and Women) at Surat, Gujarat from July 23. While forward Yashasvi, a student of Class 10th, has been named skipper of the team, Class 9’s Shravani Tulankar plays as a midfielder. Studying in Class 8th, Vedant has been selected in boys team as a defender. All of them went for Sub-Junior West Zone National trials (on 15th-16th June) at Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune. They were further called for final selection trials at the same venue on July 1. All of them were selected for the sub-junior west zone national camp.
 
The camp was from July 10 to 20 at Pune. From the camp, the final squads were picked and the three were selected. They will be now be playing in the eight-day national event from July 23 to 30. Team Hockey Maharashtra (girls) will be playing against Goans Hockey, Hockey Rajasthan, Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Hockey Chhattisgarh and Hockey Gujarat. Team Hockey Maharashtra’s first match is on July 23 against Hockey Rajasthan. Their second match is on July 24 against Goans Hockey and next game is on 26th versus Hockey Madhya Pradesh. Fourth and fifth matches to be played against Hockey Gujarat and Chhattisgarh will be held on 27th July and 29th respectively. In boys’ section, Hockey Maharashtra are in Pool A and will be playing against Hockey Rajasthan and Hockey Madhya Pradesh. Their fir st match is on July 23 against Rajasthan. Their second match is on 24th against Hockey Madhya Pradesh. Principal Manisha Sathe and coach Shahid Bux have congratulated all the selected players and wished them good luck for the mega tournament.
