NARAYANA Vidyalayam girls team and Delhi Public School (DPS) Kamptee Road boys team won the Team Championships in Under-11 category of the two-day Inter-School Chess Competition christened as ‘GAMBITS’ that concluded recently. Girls and boys of Narayana Vidyalayam emerged winners in U-14 category while in U-16 category, Somalwar High School Nikalas boys team and Narayana Vidyalayam girls team emerged victorious. Hosts DPS MIHAN girls and boys teams were finished as runners-ups. In the individual categories, Anushka Deshpande from Somalwar High School Nikalas and Krishna Murkute from DPS Kamptee Road won gold medal in U-11 category respectively. In U-14 category, Aaradhya Rakhunde and Shaunak Badole from Narayana Vidyalayam won gold medals. In U-16 category, Ayush Phating from Somalwar High School and Shraddha Bajaj from Narayana Vidyalayam won the gold medal in the boys and girls groups respectively.

 

Shreyansh Kamdar was chief guest of the closing ceremony. Tulika Kedia, President & Pro-Vice Chairperson of DPS MIHAN and Kamptee Road, Nagpur, and Director Savita Jaiswal appreciated the chess players and congratulated them for their enthusiastic participation. Kamdar in his speech motivated the students to take up chess as it not only increases concentration but also helps to strategies and plan. Nidhi Yadav, Principal of DPS MIHAN in her welcome address appreciated their efforts to compete showing sportsman spirit.
