The Major General graces ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ celebrations at Bhonsala Military School 
 
“Every inch of motherland is worth defending and if a soldier attains martyrdom in the process then its the greatest achievement,” said Major General Sanjay Kumar Vidyarthi, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding, Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area. He was addressing the cadets of Bhonsala Military School during the 25th year victory celebration of Kargil War, on Friday. The programme was held at Maharshi Vyas Sabhagruha, Reshimbagh. While referring to the talks by people that Kargil is a barren land, he added, “Your country is your mother and it deserves to be saved by its children.” Through an audio-visual, he presented some very interesting video clippings of the Kargil War. The Major General highlighted the treachery of fighting at the high altitude terrain amidst sub-zero climate. “During the war, sheer courage, valour and determination were displayed by our Armed Forces,” he added.
 
At the onset, BMS cadets carried out a route march through city followed by a commemorative function. The route march, undertaken by the eight contingents, comprising of over three hundred cadets, mounted column of eleven horses and the School Pipe and Drums Band. The route march was flagged off by Pravin Datke, Member of Legislative Council, Maharashtra, at Gandhibag Garden. The march then passed through Nanga Putla Square; Gandhi Putla Square; Badkas Square; Tulshibag Road; and culminating at Reshimbag. Gorakh Bhamre, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 3, received the salute from the marching contingents, at the ‘Saluting Base’ created at Kotwali Police Station Square. The route march was then followed by presentation of Armed Ceremonial Guard to chief guest Major General S K Vidyarthi. Dignitaries then laid wreath at make shift War Memorial as tributes to the Kargil warriors who made the supreme sacrifice. Col Amarendra Hardas, Commandant, BMS, shed light on background and various aspects of Kargil war in an audio-visual presentation. Dr Dilip Patil-Bhujbal, Inspector General of Police, Nagpur Range; Suryaratan Daga, Chairman, Central Hindu Military Education Society (CHME), Nagpur; Shailesh Joglekar, Chairman, BMS, Nagpur; Ajay Shirke, Headmaster, BMS; Rahul Dixit, Secretary, CHME, Nagpur, also were present. Rahul Dixit delivered the welcome address. Harshala Rajgire, a teacher with Bhonsala Sainik School, Nagpur, was the anchor and conducted the proceedings. Ajay Shirke delivered a vote of thanks.
