In order to express ire over Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi’s statement calling Hindus violent, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged massive protest, on Tuesday. Senior leaders and workers of the party burnt Rahul Gandhi’s effigy at Yadav Colony square and demanded an apology from him to Hindus across the country. Speaking on the occasion, City President Prabhat Sahu said Rahul Gandhi frequently makes reckless statements and is anti-Hindu. He accused Gandhi of repeatedly hurting the sentiments of Hindus and demanded a stringent action against him if he does not apologize. Sahu also called for the cancellation of Gandhi's parliamentary membership and his expulsion from the House if he repeats such offenses.

The BJP City President further emphasized that Hindus are not violent but rather tolerant. He claimed that Gandhi's baseless remarks have deeply hurt Hindus nationwide. He said leaders like Gandhi pretend to be Hindu during elections and insult Hindus once the elections are over. "Hindu society has always followed the principle of 'Ahimsa Parmo Dharma' (non-violence is the ultimate duty). In our culture, even killing an ant is considered a sin, so how can Hindus be violent?" Sahu questioned. He said that Hindus have always been liberal and expressed pride in being Hindu.
