SOUTHWEST Monsoon has been active covering all districts of the State. With the increase in rainfall activities, the State has recorded an average rainfall of 191.7 mm since the onset of the monsoon on June 1, this year based on datas of state-level control room. As per the data compiled by state-level control room established under the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Bijapur district has received the highest rainfall, averaging 283.1 mm, while Surguja district recorded the lowest at 128.6 mm. Data received from the State-Level Flood Control Room indicates diverse rainfall patterns across districts.
 
Surajpur recorded average rainfall of 159.1 mm, Balrampur 139.7 mm, Jashpur 178.1 mm, Koriya 164.9 mm and Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur 154.2 mm. In this sequence, Raipur district received 180.2 mm, Balodabazar 191.6 mm, Gariaband 214.5 mm, Mahasamund 211.5 mm, Dhamtari 212.1 mm, Bilaspur 176.7 mm, Mungeli 178.0 mm, Raigarh 187.0 mm, Sarangarh-Bilaigarh 157.1 mm, Janjgir-Champa 189.8 mm, Sakti 156.3 mm, Korba 199.2 mm, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi 185.7 mm and Durg 161.9 mm. Likewise, Kabirdham district recorded 153.7 mm rainfall, Rajnandgaon 169.1 mm, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarhchowki 201.1 mm, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai 125.2 mm, Balod 217.6 mm, Bemetara 179.5 mm, Bastar 232.7 mm, Kondagaon 232.6 mm, Kanker 189.5 mm, Narayanpur 265.3 mm, Dantewada 217.3 mm and Sukma 334.7 mm.
 
The monsoon rainfall is expected to further intensify based on the four-day yollow alert by MeT Centre stating of heavy rainfall along with lightning very likely at isolated places in the State on July 3. Similarly, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is most likely also at isolated places for next three days from July 4. Besides warning, the rainfall is expected to be fairly widespread from July 3 to 6 followed by wide spread rainfall on July 7 and 8. However, there will be no large change in the existing maximum temperature during next five days. In the general forecast, weathermen has stated possibility of moderate to medium rainfall at many places in the State on July 3. The sky will be generally cloudy with chances of thunderstorm in Raipur on Wednesday
