As expected, Assembly Session on Tuesday got off to a stormy start over the Nursing Colleges Scam. Opposition Congress demanded formation of an independent investigation committee of the Vidhan Sabha in this matter. Later, Speaker has to adjourned proceedings till Wednesday. Opposition Congress targeted the then minister Vishwas Sarang in connection with Nursing Colleges Scam. Spearheading the Congress MLA from Gandhwani, (LoP) Umang Singhar, who has been continuously demanding the resignation of present Sports, Youth Welfare and Co-operatives Minister Vishwas Sarang, accusing him responsible for the scam. Referring to the issue, Leader of Opposition, Umang Singhar questioned formation of Nursing Council and its misuse. He said “The act was passed in 1973. But in the year 2020-21, maximum number of colleges got the permission. What the urgency so that Government had to give permission suddenly to hundreds of colleges.”

It was being said that the BJP government closed the avenues of corruption. In 3 years, 509 nursing colleges were stopped from being built. Out of the 66 colleges found unsuitable in the CBI investigation, 40 colleges are from the time of the Congress government. Responding to this, Umang Singhar said that if Vishwas Sarang’s intentions are clear, then he should resign and get an independent investigation done. An independent investigation committee of the Vidhan Sabha should be formed and this matter should be investigated. Minister Vishwas Sarang said that Nursing Scam was played during Kamal Nath’s tenure as Chief Minister. The House witnessed that Kamal Nath was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, on March 20 the Kamal Nath government was busy saving its government and on 20 March itself 153 colleges were recognised by the then Congress minister. Before leaving the government, the Congress minister recognised many colleges. In the 15-month-long Congress government, 214 colleges were recognised. I had great respect for Jaivardhan Singh, I thought he would talk only after getting educated, he said that I wrote a letter for recognition.

But he is unable to understand what recognition and affiliation are, both are different subjects. Amidst the uproar, the proposals of Madhya Pradesh Nagar Palika Amendment Bill 2024, Madhya Pradesh Local Authority Amendment Bill 2024, Madhya Pradesh University Amendment Bill 2024, Madhya Pradesh Nagar Palika Amendment Bill 2024, Madhya Pradesh Local Authority Election Offences Amendment Bill 2024 were passed. A total six bills were passed without discussion. After this, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till Wednesday. As on first day, Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar had assured a discussion in the House after listening to both the ruling and opposition parties. On Tuesday, the Nursing College Scam was discussed. Before the session begins, there was heavy security arrangements inside and outside the Assembly premises. Congress MLAs staged a sit-in protest. The Opposition is aggressive about the nursing scam and is cornering the ruling party. On the sidelines, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh inaugurated the Lokpath mobile app of the Public Works Department in committee room number two at the Vidhan Sabha.
