SHUMAEL Zoheb registered a hard-fought win 2-1 over JP Nair in the Invitational 10 Red Snooker Tournament at Shabbi’s Qsports, Sadar, Nagpur. After a long wait, the cuesport created a lot of buzz amongst the snooker players of the city. In the first quarter-final, Zoheb took the opening frame 44-30 for a 1-0 lead. Nair bounced back to take the second frame that could have gone anyway 30-28. After the scores were levelled at 1-1, a determined Zoheb made no mistakes and the deciding frame ended in his favour with score reading 46-22.

 

In the second Top-8 match, Zubair Khan beat Nikunj Sharma 2-0. Both players did well but Zubair capitalised on the opportunities to take the close frames 37-25 and 40-37 to enter the semi-finals. In the third quarters, Waqar Sheikh blanked Sohit Chandekar 2-0. In a one-sided first frame, Waqar drubbed Chandekar 43-16. And though Chandekar put up some resistance in the second frame, Waqar prevailed 55-38. Aman Khan completed the semi-final line-up with a comfortable 2-0 win over Fahad Baig in the fourth quarter-final. Aman took the first frame 39-19 and continued his domination to pocket the second frame at 51-28.
