Investment projects worth Rs 39,000 crore to come up in Vidarbha

To boost the employment generation in region, a cabinet sub-committee of Maharashtra Government at its meeting held on Tuesday approved investment proposals worth Rs 39,000 crore for Vidarbha region. The projects are in nature of establishment of new plants in area of solar, electric vehicles batteries and a liquor plant. Together the three projects when completed would create 13,500 job opportunities at various level. The sub-committee meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Dy CM Ajit Pawar and Industries Minister Uday Samant. Given the ample availability of land and power along side technical manpower, Nagpur is well poised for attracting investment.
 
The biggest among the three projects identified for Nagpur is that of AWAADA Electro Ltd and the company has committed investment of Rs 13,647 crore. As per the cabinet note, the project could created job opportunities of 8,000 and it would be engaged in manufacturing Solar PV modules and electrolyser. The company would set-up its base in Butibori Industrial Estate and it is one of the leading player in semi-conductor and solar energy sectors. As per the project profile, the company would manufacture ingots, wafers cell modules using silicon as primary resource and advanced electrolyser unit. As to JSW Energy, PSP Eleven Ltd, the company from Jindal Group has identified Lithium Ion Cell manufacturing plant to be set-up in city.
 
The plant will have capacity of 50 GWH and entails investment of Rs 25,000 crore targeting creation of 5000 jobs. Given the rapidly expanding market for electric vehicles, the plant will be having cutting edge technology. The EV batteries are in great demand which is going to rise continuously over the years and hence the project has bright future. The last investment pertains to Pernod Ricard India Pvt Ltd that has already signed agreement for production and maturation of malt spirit. The project entails investment of Rs 1,785 crore and created employment for 800 persons. The plant is going to come up in Butibori Industrial Estate. The distillery is going to manufacture single malt whisky using barley. As per Department of Industries note, it could give rise to tourism due to potential of distillery tour and testing station.
