Hardcore Naxal killed in ambush by Hawk Force in Balaghat

 

 

 

Balaghat Police got a major success in its drive to eliminate Naxalites as they gunned down a dreaded Naxal in an ambush in the wee hours of Monday in Kotiyatola under the jurisdiction of Godri police chowky under Hatta police station near village Kariyadand. The hardcore Naxal killed in the ambush has been identified as Ukas alias Sohan alias Aaaytu, 30-35 years, a resident of village Puvarti in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. He joined Naxalite group in the year 2013 and was expert in doing IED blasts. He was holding ACM rank in his group KB Division and had a cash reward of Rs 14 lakh on his head. At the time of ambush, Naxalite was in plain clothes. The eliminated Naxal is active member of KB Naxal organisation active in Bijapur area.

 

Team has found one .315 bore rifle and a wireless set near the body. Hawk Force team is suspecting that many more Naxalites were injured in the ambush. The operation is still going on in the area. Hawk team members are searching the entire jungle. Alert has been sounded in district in view of his ambush. Balaghat Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh has confirmed elimination of one Naxal in exchange of fire between Hawk Force and Naxalites. He informed that the Naxal had a cash reward of Rs 14 lakh on his head. Police informed that they received input about presence of members of GRB and KB division of Naxalite group in Kothiyatola jungle area. Hence, Hawk Force started search operation from Monday morning. Police received information some Naxal might be coming to village Kothiyatola in civil dress to collect water, ration and other utilities. During searching operation, team saw some 10-12 men in plain clothes coming from village Kothiyatola and going toward jungle. The team called them and asked them to stop. But those men started firing on the Hawk Force team. Hence, team retaliated with fire and one Naxal was killed in this exchange of fire.
