TRAVELLERS continue to bear the brunt of delay as several trains on Mumbai-Howrah-Mumbai route are running behind their scheduled time due to which their long-drawn plans have gone haywire. After the derailment of Mumbai-bound Mail in Jharkhand, the route is yet to return to normalcy. The trains that started exHowrah on July 30 were running via diverted route as the site of derailment was yet to be restored. Due to long route the train timings have gone for a toss putting the travellers in limbo.

Mumbai end also, the passengers on board Vidarbha Express (T rain No. 12105)had a nightmarish experience due to disruption in movement of trains on the route. Travellers on board the train said they had quite a traumatic experience. Due to the long delay, the train halted at several roadside stations or somewhere in the middle. While train running behind schedule is no issue, at least officials could have made arrangements for food and water. Since it is an overnight journey from Mumbai to Nagpur, the train does not have a pantry. But, when the train gets delayed for several hours, it becomes difficult for travellers to manage food and water.

One of the travellers said that throughout the journey from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Nagpur, the travellers had no access to food or water. There was no way one could know the reason for so much delay faced by Gondia boundVidarbha Express since the route was all okay till Nagpur As per information, the train started a few minutes late from CSMT, and it contributed to severe delay enroute. Especially, fromThane station onwards, the Vidarbha Express lagged behind and at Nagpur, it arrived more than six hours behind scheduled time. Meanwhile, Train No. 18109 Tata Nagar-Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari Station stands cancelled while Train No. 18110 exItwari to Tata Nagar will run only upto Bilaspur/ Train No. 18029 LTT-Shalimar Express is cancelled for August 1 and ex-LTT and also Train No. 12261 CSMT-Howrah Duronto Express is also cancelled on August 1. The decision was necessary as pair trains could not reach the Mumbai end due to disruption on the route.
