THE national level ‘Mine Safety Award
2024’ programme was conducted at
Kolkata recently. On the occasion, 4
mines of WCL received awards in various categories. Accordingly, Tawa-2
mine of Pathakheda area received the
secondprize in thecategory of Medium
Class Underground Mines. In the category of Small Underground Mines,
Nagpur region’s Saoner-2 mine got the
third prize. In the category of Medium
Class Open Mines, Gondegaon of
Nagpur region got the third prize and
in the category of Small Open Mines,
Ghonsa open mine of Vani North area
received the second prize.
‘Mine Safety
Award 2024’ was given to the mines
doing excellent work on safety parameters in allthe Government and private
undertakings working in the coal, metal, oil and gas sectors of India. This
award was given forthe firsttime in the
country by the Directorate General of
Mine Safety in a programme organised
by Coal India Limited .

Prabhat Kumar presented the awards
to Chairman cum Managing Director
of WCL JP Dwivedi and Director
TechnicalofWCL(Operations/Planning
and Projects) AK Singh. Also, General
Manager Security and Conservation
Deepak Revatkar and GeneralManager
of the concerned area, Sub-Regional
Manager, Regional Safety Officer and
Mine Safety Officer were present.
