Sir,
Mpox caused by the monkeypox virus is spreading its
footprints gradually. Cases
have been reported from
Pakistan which is adjacent to
India. It is usually mild but
can kill children, pregnant
women and people with weakened immune system.
There are two genetic
groups. Clade I of Mpox is
associated with more severe
illness and higher fatality rates
than clade II.
The current upsurge of
Mpox in parts of Africa along
with the spread of a new sexually transmissible strain that
poses a serious threat to the
world. Mind you, when the 1st
wave of Corona came to India,
we were taking it for granted.
And then the 2nd wave had
come up with a barrage of
casualties and human catastrophe.
WHO warned of its highest
level of alert over the outbreak
of mpox in Africa. We must
take precautionary measures
and obey the guidelines issued
by Government of India.
