Lokmanya Tilak’s three-point agenda guiding Indiato economic supremacy: Chandrashekhar Tilak

“LOKMANYA Tilak presented his three point agenda based on Defence, Foreign Policy and Water Transport in Congress’s Nagpur session of 1895 which has been the cornerstone of India’s journey towards becoming economic superpower,” stated Chandrashekhar Tilak, retired executive President and Chief Risk Officer, National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) while delivering lecture on the topic ‘Economic policies of Lokmanya Tilak and India’s journey towards economic supremacy’ at the annual festival programme of Late Kaku Paranjape Library held at Kelkar Auditorium, Devi Ahlya Temple, Dhantoli on Tuesday. B C Bartiya, President, Confederation of All India Traders, presided over the programme. Rashtra Sevika Samiti chief Shantakka was also present on the occasion. ChandrashekharTilak, while shedding light on the lesser known economist side of LokmanyaTilak, explained that Lokmanya Tilak advocated for ‘Make in India policy’ with British Government to achieve economic independence after eventual exit of the British from India.
 
He urged the British to manufacture the ordnance used by British Indian Army in India. Chandrashekhar Tilak emphasised that the success of this vision is reflected in recent signing of ‘Security Of Supply Arrangement’ deal between India and United States of America. Chandrashekhar Tilak is a well known personality in Indian economic circle. He retired from NSDL after working for 22 years. He has also been responsible for implementation of National Pension System (NPS), now renamed as Universal Pension Scheme (UPS) in all state governments as well as in the union territories. He has also handled implementation of Atal Pension Yojana (APY ) covering more than 3 crore subscribers. In his address, B C Bartiya appealed the citizens to use Indian brands instead of going for foreign brands. He said that the ‘Swaraj’ envisioned by Lokmanya Tilak can only be achieved through ‘Swadeshi’
