THE CBI onWednesday began the process of conducting a polygraph test on Kolkata Police ASI Anup Dutta to decipher his alleged links with SanjayRoy,arrestedin therape and murder case of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, officials said. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had taken permission from a Kolkata court to conduct thepolygraph testonAssistantSub-Inspector Dutta, who was earlier questioned by the agency in the case.Dutta will be the eighth person toundergoapolygraph test in this case. According to the officials, Dutta, posted in the Kolkata Police Welfare Committee,had allegedly extended a number of favours to Roy,a traffic police volunteer.The CBI is trying to find out if Roy informed Dutta about the crime he allegedly committed and whether he sought any favours for covering up the crime, the officials said.
 
The information revealed during the polygraph test may not be used as evidence during the trialbut the agencymay gather corroborative evidence which could be used in court, they said CBI TRACKS SANDIP GHOSH’S PHONE CALLS AFTER RECOVERY OF DOCTOR’S BODY: THE Central Bureau of Investigation probing the rape and murder of a womandoctoratstate-runR.G. KarMedicalCollege&Hospital is now tracking the mobile phone calls made by former principal Dr Sandip Ghosh immediatelyafter thebodywas detected in the seminarroom. Sources said that by tracking the phone calls made or received by Ghosh then, the investigating officials are trying to figure out what exactly transpired.
 
To be more precise, sources added, the investigating officials are keen to track whether Ghosh passed on any informationor gave anyinstruction on the tragedy to anyone or viceversa from anyone on that morning. The Central probe agency has alsosought thepermission of a lower Court in Kolkata to conduct the same testonAnup Halder, an assistant subinspectorofKolkataPolice and a close associate of the sole accusedin thecase,SanjayRoy, acivicvolunteerattached to the State police. Sources said that preliminary investigation through interrogation of differentpersonshasrevealed that the woman doctor was quite popular among her fellowjunior doctors, medical students and even some of the supporting medical staff. The victim,however,wasnot in the good books of a section of her seniors in the hospital, especially those who are the confidants of Ghosh.
