“WITH an aim to facilitate sports achievers and promoters for their valuable contribution in promotion of sports ‘Mayor Cup Mahakaushal Khel Ratna Alankaran Samaroh - 2024’ would be organised on the birth anniversary of Hockey Wizard Major Dhyanchand as National Sports Day at Manas Bhawan auditorium, on Thursday,” informed Dr Prashant Mishra, Founder of Mahakoshal Krida Parishad, while addressing a press conference, on Friday. He informed that total 32 players and officials will be given Khel Ratna while late RC Rajak (posthumous) and Umashankar Patel will be honoured with Khel Shiromani 2024 Award for their valuable contribution in Football and Indian Style Wrestling games.

 

Besides this, Padam Shri and Dronacharya Award recipient Ajit Pal Singh (Hockey), Padam Shri and Cricket Commentator Sushil Doshi and International Umpire Kukku Walia (Hockey) will be especially arriving to grace the function. Mahakoshal Khel Ratna will be conferred upon Chandrabhan Dhurve (Bodybuilding), Vishwanath Banerjee (Bodybuilding), Pawan Kumar Patel (Football), Indira Shrivas (Volleyball), Ratnakar Ayachit (Boxing), Prashant Dwivedi (Cricket), Shashank Joshi (Powerlifting), Chetali Shah (Kho-kho), Abdul Kayyum (Hockey), Vidhu Yadav (Hockey), Ranjit Ran (Wrestling), Heera Chakrawarty (Wrestling), Meenukant Sharma (Athletics), Vimla Chakrawarty (Athletics), Pushpa Raghuvansh will not be increased. Another benefit of UPS is Assured Family Pension in which in case of a pensioner’s unfortunate demise, family will receive 60% of the pension the employee was receiving. Besides this, assured minimum pension of Rs 10,000 per month as pension on superannuation after minimum 10 years of service.

 

DRM added that pensions will be indexed to inflation as dearness relief will be based on the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPIIW), as in case of serving employees. Lump-Sum Payment at superannuation in addition to gratuity 1/10th of monthly emoluments (Pay +DA) as on the date of superannuation for every completed six months of the service. This Payment will not reduce the quantum of assured pension. Provisions of UPS will apply to past retirees of NPS (who have already superannuated). Arrears for past period will be paid with interest at PPF rates. UPS will be available as an option to the employees. Existing NPS / VRS with NPS as well as future employees will have an option of joining UPS. During the press conference, ADRM, Sunil Tailor, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Dr Madhur Verma and Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Subodh Vishwakarma were present.
