Pathetic infrastructure hits Govt schools in MP

Though Madhya Pradesh boasts off various schemes to connect children with school education and reduce the school dropout rates but the ground level reality is that students in Government schools are studying while sitting on sackcloth due to poor infrastructure and absence of teachers in the classroom.
Amid monsoon showers, condition of Government schools are in dilapidating condition. If we talk about one of the oldest school ‘Jehagiriya school’ in Moti Masajid area of Bhopal, first floor got collapsed and debris is lying on the floor. Classes are being run only in three rooms on the ground floor. Walls, terrace and window of the schools is having termite, spider and muddy floor. There are around 125 students in the school and they said that while attending the class they see plaster breaking from the walls and sometime they get scared of the incident.
 
On condition of anonymity, a school management
said that concern department has been informed about
the infrastructure issue of school. The school management said that apart from class, plaster came off the staff room. The school is having class 1 to 12.
 
 
While speaking about the school, District Education Officer N K Ahirwar said, “Enquiry will be raised to check the condition of school and all efforts will be made to repair the building.”
Apart from this, there are 355 schools in Madhya Pradesh having zero students but these schools have appointment of teachers. However school education department has said to transfer the teachers to other schools. Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) has recently started campaign to transfer the teachers of such schools to other where there is requirement.
 
 
DPI officials said that counselling is being held for teachers to transfer them to other campus. They said in counselling, teachers from school having zero students will be giving three options and after that they will be sent to other schools. Those teachers found to be absent in counselling session will be randomly sent to other school.
According to list provided by DPI, there are 42 teachers assigned in Sagar, 34 teachers in Satna, 16 teachers in Seoni, two in Shahdol, four in Sehore, 23 in Shajapur, 3 in Sheopur, 14 Shivpuri, 1 in Sidhi, 2 in Agar- Malwa, 5 in Ashok Nagar, 1 in Balaghat, 4 in Betul, 2 in Bhind, 6 in Bhopal, 6 in Chindwara, 2 in Damoh, 3 in Datia, 11 in Dewas, 3 in Guna, 16 in Gwalior, 6 in Harda, 2 in Indore,3 in Jabalpur, 2 in Katni, 6 in Khargone, 8 in Mandsaur, 16 in Morena, 4 in Narsinghpur, 3 in Neemach, 8 in Panna, 11 in Raisen, 14 in Rajgarh, 4 in Ratlam and 3 in Rewa.
 
 
Around 70,000 post of teachers in Government schools are vacant. There are around 1.22 lakh Government schools with about 1.10 crores of student. Sanctioned post of teachers in state are 301620 while teachers appointed on these vacancies are 226234. In past five years, around 26 thousand teachers have been recruited in schools across State.
