crime Branch apprehended two drug peddlers Bhupendra Singh Pal (22), a resident of Raisen, and Sangeeta alias Riya, (29) a resident of Sagar, on Thursday. Cops have seized a total of 8.20 kg of the substance valued Rs 1,60,000 from their possession. Crime Branch while invoking Section 8\20 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotic Substance (NDPS) registered a case against the accused. Furthermore, records read that accused were found peddling ganja in small amounts in the city. Acting on the directives of
senior police officers, a team headed by Station Incharge Ashok Marvi was constituted to investigate into illegal drug trafficking in the city.
Crime Branch team received a tip-off that the drug peddlers were looking to sell the substance at Govindpura vegetable market. Noting seriousness of the information, the team reached the site and saw a man and woman matching the informer’s description. According to the information, both were carrying bags that contained illegal substance which led to their arrest. Additionally, cops stated that Bhupendra Singh and Sangeeta during interrogation admitted of carrying the substance.
