The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has on Thursday organised a significant meeting, focusing on completing its residential projects with the assistance of private sector. During the meeting, Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav held productive discussions with builders and developers, urging them to expedite the housing projects to benefit those in need.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Municipal Corporation had previously initiated housing projects in Kudwari, Mohania and Parswara in Bhatauli, which catered to the EWS (Economically Weaker Section), LIG (Low Income Group) and MIG (Middle Income Group) categories. However, due to the exhaustion of project funds, these projects could not be completed. The ongoing housing construction for the LIG and MIG groups will now be completed through a fully transparent process with the help of the private sector. The revenue generated from these projects will be used to construct homes for the EWS category, helping them realise the dream of owning a home.
On Thursday, Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav took an initiative by holding a meeting with the city’s prominent builders and developers, who assured the Municipal Commissioner that they would work efficiently on the PMAY projects in Kudwari, Mohania and Parswara.
Municipal Commissioner Yadav emphasised that the purpose of meeting was to ensure that the PMAY projects are completed with high quality, ultimately benefiting the city’s residents. She mentioned that the residential projects, in their current state, will be handed over to private entities such as builders and
developers through a transparent process. The amount spent by the Municipal Corporation will be reimbursed by the selected builders/developers, who will then complete the construction work and sell the homes to needy citizens at market rates.
Yadav further highlighted that the scheme is highly beneficial for city's residents as it offers affordable housing options for both low-income and middle-income groups in prime areas. These homes will be completed and handed over through the builders and developers.
Those participated in the meeting were Project Nodal Officer Sunil Dubey, Assistant Engineer Ashok Vashnik, Siddharth Dubey and others.
