Rakesh Singh urges Union Minister Mandaviya for state-of-the-art sports complex in city

 

 

 

State Public Works Department Minister Rakesh Singh, on Saturday met with Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi and requested his intervention into the issue of construction of a state-of-the-art sports complex in Jabalpur. During the meeting Singh emphasised that the development of a modern sports complex in Jabalpur would provide essential resources for the city's sports talents. To facilitate the same, he urged Union Minister Mandaviya to approve the necessary funds. Rakesh Singh mentioned that earlier he had made a similar request to former Sports and Youth Minister, Anurag Thakur for construction of a sports complex in Jabalpur. Thakur had approved a sum of Rs 7.5 crore for the purpose.

 

However, he said, Jabalpur being the headquarters of Mahakoshal region and home to talented athletes from surrounding areas, it requires a large sports complex. Therefore, adequate funding is essential for construction of state-of-the-art sports complex. Singh said that Union Minister Mandaviya has given his approval for construction of the sports complex and has also agreed to visit Jabalpur to assess the situation.
