Girl student presents Bogus marksheet For verification to RTMNU

 

 

 

 

 

 

The officials of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) were in for a rude shock on Thursday when a case of a girl getting a job abroad (country not known yet) using an RTMNU marksheet came to the fore. The discovery comes on the heel of last year’s case, in which a few Iraq nationals, who never studied under Nagpur university, got jobs in their country by submitting marksheets of colleges under RTMNU. At the time of filing of this report, the process of registering a complaint with the Ambazari Police was on. On Thursday late afternoon, two men came to the Examination and Result Section located in the LITU premises. According to sources in the university, they approached Dr Praful Sable, Director of Board of Examinations and Valuation, RTMNU, and presented 8 marksheets of four years (2012-2016) of engineering faculty, a degree, and a consolidated transcript.

 

They sought verification of the documents produced. The name of the student written on the documents was Kanchala Roshan Rao. “They introduced themselves as close relatives of the girl student. I instantly recognised that the marksheets produced were fake. Secondly, we never give a consolidated transcript, so there was no question of the girl student receiving it,” said Dr Sable. He said, he got the documents verified from Tabulation Register and Marksheet Record, where no evidence of marksheets in this name were found. The university officials noticed stamps of foreign embassy on the back of the marksheet which means that the student is out of India. One of the two persons who came from Hyderabad got Dr Sable with the girl. Shockingly the girl did not remember name of the college from where she did her engineering.

 

Taking serious cognisance of the issue, Dr Sable informed Dr Sanjay Dudhe, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dr Prashant Bokare, Vice Chancellor. Meanwhile one of the two persons who had come with the marksheets sought permission to go out and did not return. University officials caught the other person and took him to the police. As per the instructions Dr Sable approached Ambazari police station to lodge an FIR in this case. Last year RTMNU had received a communication from the Iraq embassy in India seeking information of 27 students who sought jobs in Iraq. University sent mails to respective colleges to get the information of students mentioned in the list. All the colleges replied university that the students were never admitted with their institutions. Accordingly, University informed it to Iraq embassy. These students had submitted the marksheets of the above colleges with the companies in Iraq and got the jobs. According to a senior official of the university, such marksheets are being procured from one single source because all the marksheets bear the signature of former Vice Chancellor Dr Vilas Sapkal and Controller of Examinations Dr S P Kane.
