A power outage at the Kanhan Water Treatment Plant (WTP) caused by a blast in the 33 kV Express Feeder HT Cubicle led to an emergency shutdown of the facility on Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 10 am due to a failure of the Potential Transformers (PT) in the Y and B phases, resulting in a complete power loss at the WTP. The power supply failure disrupted water supply across several areas in Nagpur for eight to nine hours. Residents and businesses in the affected zones faced water shortages. Efforts were made to restore power and resume normal operations. The outage impacted various areas, including those under following elevated service reservoirs — Bharatwadi, Kalamna, Subhan Nagar, Minimata, Bhandewadi, Lakadganj, Babulban, Pardi, Shanti Nagar, Wanjri, Kalamna NIT, Nandanvan, Tajbagh, Kharbi, Sakkardara, Binaki, Binaki, Uppalwadi, Indora, Bezonbagh, Bastarwadi. Residents are appealed to be prepared for possible water shortages until the situation is fully normalised.
