Receding her memories of Paralympics 2020 where she finished seventh in the 10M air pistol P2, Rubina blazed in the Paris Paralympics 2024 and is bring home bronze in the 10m Air Pistol SH1 event. Rubina scored a total of 211.1 and stood at third in the eight-women final. She qualified for the final at seventh spot in the qualification round earlier in the day. Francis become India’s fourth medallist at Paris Paralympics in shooting, after Avani Lekhara bagged gold, Mona Agarwal won bronze and Manish Narwal claimed silver. Rubina, who is a product of State’s Shooting Academy, entered in the field in April 2015, and got herself registered in a competition in August 2015. Rubina is shooting aficionado holds her graduation degree in Bachelor of Commerce and loves music. From clinching her first gold medal in the 59th National Shooting Championship Competition held in New Delhi in AP 40,10m. Pistol Women (ISSF) National Championship Handicap to giving a podium finish in Paris Paralympics, Rubina’s Journey has been a channel of motivation for many. Further, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav Congratulated Rubina Francis on her achievement.

Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ over phone from Paris, Jayprakash Nautiyal, the Chairman of Para Olympic Committee of India (PCI), expressed happiness over the victor of Rubina Francis. While stating that Rubina met our expectations of winning a medal in the Paralympics, Jayprakash Nautiyal said “we are elated over the victory of Rubina in Paralympics and were absolutely prepared it. The whole team saw it coming. Though I was a bit conscious after she stood seventh in the qualification but the way she was hitting the pay dirt in her finals made me repose my trust in her again”. Elaborating over the way Rubina was handled the shooting pressure, Jayprakash Nautiyal said that though she was a bit shaken after her performance in the qualification but she was confident that she will clinch a medal. “Rubina was little nervous after she finished seventh in the qualification round. She tried meeting our expectations in qualifications. After the qualification round the whole team sat together to deliberate over her performance. Rubina felt upbeat and her eyes blazed saying that the country is about to get its next medal soon”. Talking about her journey, the Chairman stated that since her practice he had seen changes in Rubina. Owing to her experiences Rubina has become more humble.
