Swoop at the residence and office of the officer accused of amassing assets worth Rs 3.89 crore
THE Central Bureau of
Investigation (CBI) is currently conducting searches at multiple locations in
Raipur, targeting a Senior
Audit Officer of the Indian
Audit and Accounts
Department, Office of the
Principal Accountant
General (Audit),
Chhattisgarh. The searches come as part of an investigation into allegations
that the officer possesses
Disproportionate Assets
(DA) beyond his known
sources of income.
“The accused, who
joined the service on
July 13, 2006 as a Section
Officer with a grade pay of
Rs 4,800, has reportedly
acquired or purchased
nearly 10 immovable properties each year, including
agricultural land and residential plots,” official
sources privy to the ongoing searches told
The Hitavada.
It is further alleged that
the officer engaged in corrupt activities, deliberately enriching himself
through illicit means. Over
the period from August 31,
2007 to May 31, 2024, the
accused is believed to have
accumulated both movable
and immovable assets
worth approximately Rs
3.89 crore in his name and
that of his wife. The assets
are allegedly disproportionate to the officer’s
known sources of income,
with an estimated discrepancy of Rs 1.47 crore.
CBI searches are being
conducted at the residential and official premises of
the accused, with further
investigations ongoing .
