The Hitavada State Bureau
RAIPUR/BALODABAZAR,
THE judicial custody of
Congress MLA Devendra Yadav
has been extended for the
fourth time, with the court
remanding him for a further
seven days until September 17.
Yadav, who is currently
lodged in Central Jail Raipur,
was presented before the court
of Chief Judicial Magistrate
(CJM) Ajay Khakha via video
conferencing today. He was initially arrested
on 17th
August in connection with
t h e
Balodabazar
arson and violence case. According to knowledgeable sources within the
legal fraternity, today’s proceedings underscored the continuing investigation into the
violent unrest, which stemmed
from the desecration of the Mahakoni Temple in Giroudpuri, a sacred site for the Satnam
community.
The incident led to the destruction of the
revered ‘Jaitkham’, provoking widespread anger and calls
for a CBI investigation. In response to the outrage, the
state government had earlier ordered a judicial probe,
while several suspects were detained. The violence that
erupted in Balodabazar saw the arrest of MLA Yadav,
alongside hundreds of others, as part of the police crackdown. Legal sources confirmed this is the fourth time
Yadav’s judicial remand has been extended. The court
will reconvene on 17th September for further deliberation on the case.
